Top Skills Required for Data Analyst

Before going for any interview for Data analyst, Skills that must be present in your resume are-

1. SQL(Structured Query Language)-

To communicate with database, to retrieve and query data ; SQL is the language they must know. This skills are in high demand, easy to use and also allows for quick access to any information related to data. To clear any interview of Data Analyst , SQL is important ( like Select, From, Where, Group by, Order by, Case statement, union and join).

2. Excel-

This skill is highly used by data analyst for data preparation. It helps in data cleaning, data transformation. Some of the things that must be known in excel are Conditional Formatting, Vlookup, pivot table, and also able to know how to create visualisation .

3.Programming-

Programming language like Python or R is important to learn for data analysis. Here, I highly recommend Python for beginners like me because of the below reason-

· Simple and easy to understand.

· Free and Open source language.

· Highly-in-demand in tech community.

· High level programming ( syntax are easy to understand for humans.)

· Perform non-statistical task.

Basic information about for/while loops, function, data types, libraries like Numpy, Pandas is must to know for any data analyst.

4. BI Tool (Business Intelligence Tool)-

Mostly used BI tool are Tableau and Power BI depending upon the organization. These are Data Visualisation tool which helps to represent data in creative form. Some of the basic that must be known are –

· Know how to connect to data source

· Know how to use popular visual like density map, scatter plot etc.

· Know basic calculation.

· Also able to represent insightful dashboard

5. Other –

Other skills that are important-

Statistical Analysis : requires basic math skill like mean, mode , median , distribution.

Persuasion skill: able to convey about his result to organization member and it is considered as important tool for any employee working in a company.
